Learning AXEperience, fo sho
February 25, 2018
When I tell you this event was a learning AXEperience, whaaaat?!?!!! Let’s start with how we were introduced and started building a relationship with Dirtbag Ales Brewery. Ok, maybe I shouldn’t share all the deets, but I will say it was a clusterf*ck of miscommunication with someone who was trying to book us for an event. That event never happened, but it opened the door for us to work directly with DBA. What an amazing group of people!!
We set this up as a pre-event photo-op for the main event on St. Patty’s Day. I am soooo glad we did this event!! Again, thinking back, I seriously have a good laugh. The set-up part wasn’t too bad, considering this was our first time to take it off the trailer, but it was heavy AF and we were drenched in sweat by the time we were done. Did you happen to notice we traded in the stickers for spray painted info?
We didn’t have any tables for people to sign waivers; we were using a piece of scrap wood. We ran out of waivers and had to have people just sign anywhere on the form they could find a space. We had parked the truck and trailer behind the targets so people couldn’t walk behind them. WTF were we thinking?!?? At one point, someone threw an axe that missed the target, bounced off the ground into the back of the trailer, catapulted into the back of the truck, and hit the back window. Luckily, it didn’t break. We were a hot mess, lol.
It wasn’t a complete disaster and it renewed my faith that we were on the right track (everyone loved it), BUT someone at the event was so kind to tell the owners that they should reconsider having us back out because we were a hazard. LOL, there’s always that one.
